Ajax defender Jakov Medic is still trying to process his incredible debut. The 24-year-old Croatian had a dream start last Saturday, leaving his mark with a stunning goal.
Medic scored a sensational equalizer in the match against Heracles Almelo (4-1). "I think I'm still dreaming for a few more days," he told Ajax TV. The center-back has been watching his goal on repeat every day. "I still can't believe it was me. A lot of people are calling and sending messages. On the internet, I see the goal popping up all the time, it's surreal."
Medic received a video from his mother, where she captured the moment his name was being chanted at the Johan Cruijff Arena. "That's something you can only dream of. But dreams do come true, and I have to enjoy it," said the beaming protagonist, who revealed that his strong debut has caught the attention of people in Croatia. "I already have to order 500 shirts for friends and family in Croatia. And many people want to come and watch a match. I think it will take me a whole season to bring everyone here."
