Ajax-target Ito disappointed, Stuttgart aims for contract extension
VfB Stuttgart continues to resist Hiroki Ito's transfer to Ajax. The Bundesliga club is even trying to extend the contract of the 24-year-old defender, according to reports from BILD and Stuttgarter Nachrichten.
According to German media, a tough battle awaits for Ito. Ajax has already made two bids, but even the latest proposal of fifteen million euros was rejected. Stuttgart does not want to let the Japanese player go this summer. In fact, Die Schwaben want to upgrade Ito's contract, which runs until mid-2026. He could earn significantly more at the MHPArena.
Furthermore, Stuttgart wants to include a transfer clause of thirty million euros in the new contract. However, Ito finds this amount too high and is pushing for a lower figure. This raises doubts about whether both parties will reach an agreement. BILD reports that the left-footed player is already disappointed that Ajax's latest offer was rejected. He hopes for a transfer to Ajax and a reunion with his discoverer, Sven Mislintat.
On Monday, Sky Sport reported that Ajax has even reached a personal agreement with Ito. A contract until mid-2028 is ready for the Japanese international in Amsterdam.
