Feyenoord's 'Project 10': "I want to make myself indisputable again". Quinten Timber is proud of his twin brother Jurriën Timber, who made a top transfer from Ajax to Arsenal this summer. The midfielder acknowledges that his goal is also to make the move to the Premier League in the future, but first he wants to reclaim his spot in the starting lineup at Feyenoord.
"Yes, definitely. In the future, of course. It would be great to make such a move. But it all starts today, just at Feyenoord. This season, I want to show some great things. And we'll see what the future brings. But that would certainly be great," says Timber to Voetbal International.
First, he faces a competition battle at Feyenoord. "I want to make myself indisputable again, and I'm working hard for that," says Timber, who has confidence that he will secure a starting position at De Kuip. "That confidence has always been there. I had it two years ago when I went to Utrecht and last year when I came to Feyenoord. Back then, it was about my transfer fee, but as a player and as a team, you're not concerned with that at all. I was just eager to show what I can do, and now I have that same eagerness to show even more."
"Of course, we have also acquired good midfielders in Ramiz Zerrouki and Thomas van den Belt, but at a top club like Feyenoord, competition is part of it. It makes you better, no problem," says Timber, who played a lot as a number ten during the preparation. However, the reigning champions have also signed Calvin Stengs.
Timber discussed his position with Arne Slot. "Quinten believes he can perform well in both positions, so we have chosen to continue with Project 10 for now. Based on the development he and hopefully the team will go through, we will determine whether we will continue with it," says the coach.
